What is Nature NL?
Nature Newfoundland and Labrador is a non-profit organization and registered charity promoting the enjoyment and protection of all wildlife and natural resources in Newfoundland and Labrador. We are the province’s oldest conservation organization and we continue to be one of the province’s most active environmental organizations.
What does Nature NL do?
We host regular public talks, workshops, nature hikes, and coordinate a variety of education and outreach programs.
We publish The Osprey, a journal/magazine dedicated to the natural history of the province, as well as a monthly newsletter with blog articles and upcoming activities.
Nature NL speaks up for our natural heritage and engages with other organizations, academic, industry, and government on conservation issues of importance to our province.
What's in a Nature NL membership?
Joining Nature NL will connect you with individuals with similar interests and foster our local community of nature enthusiasts. Your membership supports nature education programming, increases nature accessibility, and provides resources that help Nature NL complete advocacy projects. You also receive invitations to members-only events, and our publication The Osprey. As a member, you have a vote at the Annual General Meeting which is held in March. We encourage all of our members to actively participate and bring forth suggestions, questions, or new ideas.
Your membership doesn’t just provide you with access to these services and benefits. It also helps provide them to others. Education and outreach programs like Nature Nook, Learn to Camp, and Connecting New Canadians With Nature are just some of the ways we foster an understanding of and appreciation for our natural surroundings, and our place within them.
Who are our members?
Some Nature NL members are passionate advocates for the environment, some are avid birders, and some are hikers. Some are brimming with knowledge about our province's natural environment and others are eager to start learning. While we all come from different backgrounds and with different interests, we're united in our desire to better understand, protect, appreciate and enjoy nature.
